After breakfast this morning we started the journey to St. Louis. Getting on to Historic Route 66 wasn't as straightforward as we would have liked but we made it and drove through some very small, rural towns on the way.
We stopped for lunching Doc's Soda Fountain in Girard, Illinois. This was opened by Robert Deck in 1884 and hasn't changed very much. His grandson, Phil was there and chatted to us about the place.
